Sonbahar ve Kış Aylarında Bebekler Nasıl Giydirilmeli?

How Should Babies Be Dressed in Autumn and Winter?

The safest approach in cool weather is to dress your baby in layers. Keep the baby's neck/shoulder area
By checking regularly, you can make sure that it is neither too hot nor too cold.

Quick Guide

 Golden rule: Multiple thin coats instead of one thick coat.
 Control point: Not hands or feet, but neck/chest.
 Ideal room temperature for home: Generally 20–22 °C.
 While sleeping: No hats or loose blankets; use a sleeping bag (TOG).
 Outside: Wind and humidity increase the “felt” cold; add a wind-blocking layer.
 Car seat: No puffy coats; fasten the harness over the baby, not over the layers. A blanket can be placed over the seat.

Layered Dressing

1. Base layer (skin contact): Thin, breathable 100% organic cotton short/long sleeve bodysuit.
2. Mid layer: Interlock/rib overalls or fine knit/sweatshirt.
3. Outer layer: Cardigan or wind/water repellent clothing depending on the weather
4. Accessories: Hat (outside), thin socks/booties. Hats are not worn while sleeping.

Dressing According to Room Temperature in the House

Room Temperature Recommended Clothing Sleeping Bag (TOG)
24–22 °C Thin body + thin overalls 0.5–1.0 TOG
22–20 °C Thin body + long sleeve jumpsuit/pajamas 1.0–2.0 TOG
20–18 °C Body + overalls + thin cardigan 2.0–2.5 TOG
<18 °C Body + overalls + warm outer coat (consider warming the room first) 2.5–3.5 TOG
Tip: If the back of your neck is warm and dry, it's ideal; if it's sweaty, it's overdressed; if it's cold, it might be one less layer.

When Going Out: Combinations Depending on the Weather

 Cool & windy (10–15 °C): Body + overalls + windproof jacket + beanie + booties.
 Cold & dry (5–10 °C): Body + overalls + knitwear/raised mid-layer + water/wind repellent outer layer.
 Very cold/rainy (<5 °C): Go outside for a short time; raincoat/softshell + blanket. Be careful not to get wet. Car seat safety: No thick coats should be placed under the belt. Fasten the baby in normal layers; place a blanket over the belt.

Temperature Management During Sleep (Safe Sleep)

 TOG: The thermal insulation degree of the sleeping bag; it is selected according to the room temperature.
 No loose blankets → prefer a sleeping bag.
 No hat (risk of overheating).
 Example (20–22 °C): Body + overalls/pajamas + 1.0–2.5 TOG sleeping bag.
 Control: If the neck is sweaty, lower the TOG or remove one layer.

Fabric Selection (For Sensitive Skin)

 100% Organic Cotton (GOTS): Breathable, provides comfort all day long.
 Muslin: Very breathable; temperature regulation is easy with the number of layers.
 Rib/Interlock: Flexible, ideal for daily use.
 OEKO-TEX Standard 100: It is a safety indicator tested for harmful chemicals.

Common Mistakes

 Wearing a single thick layer → sweating → feeling cold.
 Using a hat/scarf while sleeping → overheating and safety risk.
 Judging by looking at hands/feet → misleading; look at the back of the neck/chest.
 Fluffy coat on the car seat → creates a belt gap.

Mini Combination Examples

 Indoors 22 °C: Thin body + interlock overalls + 1.0–1.5 TOG sleeping bag (while sleeping).
 Outside 10–12 °C, windy: Bodysuit + overalls + thin knitwear + windproof coat + beanie.
 19 °C room at night: Body + overalls + 2.0-2.5 TOG sleeping bag.
